SW open

The club took four of the top six places at this year's SW open held in Millfield. Daniel O'Neill was sixth, Andy Walls and Steve Gough both secured bronze medals while Chris Prevett took the silver. A Hunt-Roeder team consisting of chris, Andy Daniel and Mike Page came second to a strong Millfield team. Well done to all who took part.

2010 British Youth Championships

Congratulations to Shreya Anil who took the gold in the U12 girls sabre at this year's BYC in Sheffield. Lucy White, after her successes in representing Glos ladies at Excalibur on the saturday, secured a creditable sixth place in the U18 BYC event on the sunday.

A Hunt Roeder sabre team consisting of David Walters, Andy Walls and Daniel O'Neill, overcame all but a team from Bath Sword in this local annual event.

Vets' Age Qualifiers, Luton

Pending successful selection, the 2010 vets' world championships in Croatia now beckon for Jane Hutchison and Chris Prevett at end Sept after their performances in this year's qualifying competition. Jane won gold in the cat 2 for women while Chris came third in the cat 2 men's event. Dennis Hunt just missed out on a medal by coming 5th in the cat 4 for men

Glos open

The Glos open sabre competition for juniors and seniors was held at Wycliffe College, Glos for the first time in many years. Club members made it a memorable occasion and took home most of the top medals.

LPJS - Bath Sabre

Well done to our three Hunt Roeder entrants at this year's Bath Sabre competition. Shreya Anil won the U11 girls,  Lucy White won the U17 girls and Daniel O'Neill took silver in the U17 boys event.

Shreya Anil was the winner of the junior club trophy this year, hotly contested by Layla Wyatt who took the silver and Jonathon Salt who picked up the Bronze

2009 club competition

this year's competition produced some fiercely-contested bouts from all those taking part in a most enjoyable evening of club fencing. Chris Prevett emerged as the overall winner, thereby claiming the men's title , after  close-fought contests in the semi-final against Andy Pearson (15-12) and  the final against Steve Gough(15-12). Jane Hutchison took the women's title after narrowly losing 15-14 to Steve in the other semi-final.

SW youth championships

Hunt Roeder is proud to record that Shreya Anil, Layla, Wyatt and Lucy White have all qualified to represent the SW at the British Youth Campionships to be held in Sheffield in May 2010.

2009 British Cadet & Junior competitions

  Lucy White produced an excellent performance to come 11th in the women's cadet competition and was placed 31st in the junior event.. Shreya Anil came 32nd in the Cadet competition.

vets world championships 2009

Jane Hutchison picked up her third world title in a row at this year's vets world championsips in Moscow. After a disappointing poule, Chris Prevett went out in the first DE to come 19th in the 50-60 category. Dennis Hunt also went out in the first DE of the over 70 agegroup to come 11th.

Commonwealth Vets Fencing championships

further vets' success in Jersey where Jane Hutchison picked up silver in a close fought final in the women's sabre, while Chris Prevett won bronze in the men's event. Both fenced for England in the team events where the men won the silver while the women took the gold medal.

10th European vets championships - Balatonfured

Jane Hutchison secured the gold medal in cat 2 womens sabre to confirm her place as British, European, Commonwealth and World champion all in the same year. In the men's events, Dennis Hunt was 15th in cat 4 and Chris Prevett 21st in cat 2.

congratulations to Shreya Anil and Griff Williams who won the U12G and U16B events respectively. Suzanne Tavener also came third in the U13 girls.Other notable results include Ziggi Oehley(9th in the U15G), Daniel O'Neill(10th in U17B) and Luke Walter(28th in U13B).

Vets Age Qualifiers, Luton

after tieing for first place in the 50-59 age group in the ladies competition, Jane Hutchison took the gold after a barrage with Jenny Morris. Chris Prevett took silver in the same category for men, losing only two fights. Both now qualify for selection to represent GB at the 2009 world championships in Moscow.

British Youth Championships, Stoke

Our five SW representatives at this year's BYC had varying degrees of success. Shreya Anil won a bronze in the U12 Girls, Manon Pilaud came 7th and Lucy White 17th  in the U16 Girls. Suzanne Tavener came 12th in the U14 girls, beiing knocked out by the eventual gold medallist while Daniel O'Neil came 41st in the U16 boys event.

2008 vets world champs, Limoges

  Jane Hutchison successfully defended the cat 50-59 world title she won in Sydney last year, this time beating Turner of the USA 10-9 in a nail-biting finale held in Limoges. Chris Prevett came within one hit of making the last 8 to come 12th in the mens' 50-59 category

Griff Williams was placed 45th in the junior men's event and 29th in the Cadet competition while Steph  Rees came  a creditable 15th and 12th in the respective ladies events

 congratulations to Griff williams who finished as top-placed cadet in 63rd place in the first event of the season. The men's competition attracted an entry of 128 and is one of the strongest events on the circuit.
